For all those that make derogatory remarks about bavarias, there is no mention of the keel falling off, in fact no mention of any significant damage.

Amazing - the lifeboat managed to refloat the boat.... I thought the rising tide would have done that. It did when we touched a few pebbles in Cuan on the astronomically lowest LW of the millenium.

At least your rock is genuinely awkward (and would, in my view, justify being marked), coming up just as the depth shoals and it isn't at all clear whether deeper water lies towards or away from the Cleit. The one at the NE of Torsa is quite easy to avoid, either by keeping close to Torsa (which I tend to do) or giving it a wide berth.

The article mentions a Bav40 as well. That one belongs to aquaintances of ours and it was pushed onto the rock by the tide according to the owner. The lead keel has a nick in it and the insides (floors) are to be inspected.
Maybe they were cutting the corner a wee bit too fine?

I tend to use the white house as an aiming point until Cuan opens if going the long way round.
2 other strategies
trust the plotter
stick to your airse like bostik

I love my cast iron keels, they do more damage to the rocks than the rocks do to me.
