BLUEMOMENT

Suppose you were catching a train to (say) Manchester from (say) Oxford...and someone offers to pick you up for onward trip another 300 miles ...what time would you get that train from Oxford, hm? You can choose any train from 730 am, and every half hour after that. The train trip takes about three hours.

EDIT: I've just noticed it's half price at 10am, so that explains it.... Are there any nice museums or stuff to do in Manchester city centre till 1pm? Jeez...

I haven't visited it myself, but I'm told that the science museum is good - large steam engine etc. If you're into canals the first couple of miles of the Rochdale are interesting. One lock is sited underneath a tower block - effectively underground. It would be a great location for a spy film.

Well the subterrainian lock on the Rochdale Canal that I mentioned comes close...

Incidentally, does anyone know to work the spell checker on this forum? When composing this message it puts a red line under subterrainian so it obviously doesn't like it. I've tried various alternative spellings without managing to get the red line to go away, but I can't see a way to get it to suggest a correct spelling.

I use Google spellcheck, not allways as you will notice

On ma machine I just right click on the word wi the wavy red line, it offers other spellings.

At last, an answer to the question asked! Many thanks for that. Pretty obviouus I suppose, once you know, but then isn't everything?

Then again, the deliberate typo in the previous sentence isn't underlined, and I'm using the same browser (Firefox) with, as far as I know, the same settings as when I saw the red underlining.

Ah, when I now right click over the dodgy word, one of the options is to load a dictionary. Having loaded British English (I think it was called) the mis-spellings now have wavy red lines under them, rather than the straight dotted lines I had previously.

I remain confused, but I seem to have a solution that works - at least after a fashion: the "mis" part of mis-spelled is considered wrong, but no sensible alternatives are offered.
