Burgee - 2 Year Guarantee?

I went to Rosally today and discovered that my Bluemoment burgee was gone!
Now, I realise the fishing industry in Peterhead (and elsewhere) is going through hard times but I cannot excuse this act of blatant theft. I have checked the (remaining) trawlers in the main harbour but they are obviously too smart to fly it, so soon after nicking it. What annoys me is, I would have stayed on the boat the last couple of nights but it was far too windy - obviously these scoundrels knew of my abscence and grabbed their chance.
I fear this is not an isolated incident, as it has been noted that Rowana hasn't been flying hers either ! Is there really such a high demand for these on the black market?
My question is, is "theft" covered under the guarantee?

PS: In anticipation of your expected answer, I have ordered and payed for my replacement :x (I wonder if I can claim it on the insurance........)

PPS: Thanks Tam (Ludd) for your magnificent and educational demonstration of "How a Burgee should be attached to its Halyard". You must show that to me again sometime

If your budgie was anything like mine, then it's demented antics probably kept half the Bloo Toon awake, so a kind soul has taken it down before it shook the rig to bits.

I'd be tempted to look for a viking, with a brand new posing pouch which looks very like your old burgee, with a smidgeon of volcanic ash mixed in.

.
While the item comes with a limited lifetime warranty once stolen or damaged it is deemed to have come to the end of its limited life, thus voiding the warranty. The latest recommendation from our Clyde correspondent is to fly it from the backstay where it can't cause as much mayhem.

Why does one feel the need to fly burgees, ensigns & other ephemera when not in residence? Mine are all safely stored aboard when I am absent. They last much longer that way.
