Sunshine, Blue Skies - Bah - Humbug!

Marisca has been moved from the Forth to the Clyde having motored nearly all the way in a calm despite the CG's regular promise of F3/4. Loch Ness was an exception and was a nice wee spinnaker run spoilt a little by having to gybe every 5 minutes or so. Corpach to Shuna was another run but because the Simrad autotiller thingy had decided to die, I didn't feel happy with the chute up - I can't quite steer with one foot and do the rest of the dowsing specially if the wind got up a bit - some hope! The final insult was the wind appearing just as I reached the Cloch and then blowing a healthy SW4 for the rest of the day.
I have a guilty admission. For the first time I had a chartplotter, actually a pc and a download of the world running on OpenCPN, and I didn't put a single pencil mark on a chart the whole trip. Now the weather was benign, visibility good, the route familiar and was much more a matter of simple pilotage than actual navigation but I always used to log my position on the chart - if only to work out how long the trip would take. I did have the chart out and could have marked my position to within about a mile at all times but pure laziness ruled. I think the pc can stay at home in future.
One wee tip - you can get free WiFi if you're close to a Calmac ferry - it's not fast, is full of ads but I got my emails.

We didn't pass you on Loch Ness on Sunday afternoon did we? (around 5 o'clock, a few miles from Fort Augustus?). We were going West to East - not overtaking you

Wind on our nose, which was a feature of our trip except when it died completely. A good sailing breeze in the canal however

Saw you coming round Cloch today? Picked up mooring at RGYC under main only?
Very handy to hear about Wi-Fi from Calmac.... wonder if it applies to Portavadie ferry to when tied up for the night in Tarbert.
Regards
Donald

last few times I've been in Tarbert I've had free wifi near the harbour office.

I plead guilty to both charges - Loch Ness on Sunday and the Cloch yesterday. I'm glad I got the mooring pick-up reasonably right. Had I known there was anyone watching it would probably have been a total cock-up.

Think that's something to do with the racing bunch. Last time I tried it I couldn't get a session address or whatever it's called, and the office people couldn't help. I'm not sure that it will reach the new pontoons either.

I saw one in Tarbert also, but, the one I saw was the Claymore Claymore that is not Claymore's Claymore Claymore. Not a stitch of green on it!
