Bunessan. Went there in '99. The 'used to be boatyard' people were truly unfriendly, and we caught the chain on the steel wreck.
It pished a deluge and our waterproof but heavy torch is possibly still shining up at the anchored yachts.
Apart from that, the pub was OK, so that's good then.

Went there in 2001 or 2002 amid very thick fog. Had to stay an extra night with it blowing straight in, even tucked up round the corner quite uncomfortable. The pub was truely awful.

Could my memory have been altered by the comestibles consumed? I remember it not raining inside, which was a good start.

The pub was shut for the Games, but it was an agreeable enough place and well-situated for a trip out to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles the next day.

I think an actual circumnavigaton of Mull would be a rather splendid cruise objective, but the weather would have to be kinder than usual.

I told you lot last year (and you ignored me then, too), if you want to go round Mull the Oban Sailing Club would be glad to see you on (9th/10th/11th July this year) the Round Mull Race. The Mishnish and a ceilidh with food at Bunessan pass the evenings and apart from starting at roughly the same time as the rest of the fleet, you don't have to enter into the macho, testosterone fuelled, racing rules stuff. There is even a white sail class for those who don't like big multi coloured (or even green) things.

Bunessan would be a good place for a hostelry visit, but it could be a bit weather dependent for a long weekend. Having some distant family connection with the place, I do enjoy going there. The pub, the Argyll Arms is generally OK, and I'm sure that someone told me recently that the wee public bar on the corner of the building, has reopened again (it closed in the 80s). I believe that it's changed hands a couple of times recently, so don't know what it's like now.

hm, last year i was instructed that tides etc are for woofters?
