I thought Valencia was in Eire

Just got back from an old airfield west of Edburg where I managed to procure 2 glider wings - well, they were just lying around in a big locked box on wheels, obviously unwanted. What I'm after now is advice on how best to mount them on Marisca instead of the old fashioned mast and dacron curtains. Will I go so fast that I bend the wind so far forward that I don't need a spinnaker any more? Watch out WHYW!

Mind you I cannae understand why after all the pissing around Alinghi has done in court, the huge cost of building the thing and hiring the best rent-a-crew in the world (that weren't on BMWOracle already), they cannae get the start right (twice!). Being slower than the other boat is a feeling I know well - perhaps they should sail under CYCA handicap - though it disnae do me any good.

Trivia question - Who was the only Scot who has won the America's Cup?

Charlie Barr
Won it 3 times. He was Herreshoff's skipper of choice winning on Columbia (twice) and Reliance.
Add in the transatlantic record that stood for 100years. Not too shabby for a Greenock boy

A good point. If we whiz round buying up all the Glider wings, we should be in clover when all this new fangled stuff catches on properly.

What about Helicopter blades for use on smaller craft like, errr, say, Hurley 22s?

I wouldn't want to risk losing my booze-cruising exemption if they made me exceed seven knots.
