Weather School Musinig...Why So Cold?
Hi everyone, and a very Happy New Year!
It’s been a while since we ‘enjoyed’ such a spell of cold winter weather and this is now raising the question ‘why’?
I’ve put together a video explaining what’s going on and you can view it at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bx_VFyoa-3o" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Hope you enjoy it!

Excellent Vid Simon, So what you're saying is we have another 2 weeks of this at least. Can't ever remember it being so cold for so long. I was doing some work at the boat yesterday afternoon and the warmest it got to was -2c and that was 200 yards form the sea, don't know what it got down to last night but when I went to bed around midnight it was -8c.
I here talk of a Bonspiel this year, first since 1979.

Hi Simon.
Nicely presented video -well done.
Does the coldest December in 30 years or so argue against the global warming theory?

.
First, let me say that I realy enjoyed the video Simon - thanks for the heads-up. You can of course embed youtube videos directly in posts if you would like to. PM me or Silkie if you (or anyone else) would liek to do this and have any problems.
Secondly, in response to Sawdoc's question:

Secondly, in response to Sawdoc's question:
I seriously doubt if Simon is prepared to get involved in a discussion on global warming on a yachting forum - for obvious reasons - and I don't think it is helpful to try to draw him out on it. He comes on here to talk about and explain the weather and his opinions on climate change are his own unless he chooses to share them.Does the coldest December in 30 years or so argue against the global warming theory?

The Vicar hasn't got a boat, so not much danger of that.Booby Trapper wrote:

No, but the pulpit is possibly unworthy

Well, I must report I went off on my high horse, muttering to myself about restrictions on free speech and such and decided I would have to go researching elsewhere to get an answer to this one....
Have to say Nick's reaction was spot on - It seems every debate on the topic turns rapidly into a mud slinging battle ( there is a glorious one ongoing on BBC for the last few days) with wonderful charges being thrown every which way - would be hilarious if it were not so serious

I enjoyed the vid too, Simon.
Agree about the GW stuff. It's nice to get away from it. There's a Welsh bloke over there boring everyone ****less with his insane spoutings.

He'd be crazy to get dragged into an argument, but IIRC he did state his view on TOP once.
I don't think it differed wildly from what I understand most people qualified to talk on the subject seem to be saying.
