Haven't been able to find a reliable figure for her fuel consumption - very high in relative terms - and likely a factor in her disappearance in the next couple of years.
Are the jets that you can see the actual drive or is that just the cooling? I would have expected them to be under water like a PWC. I read somewhere that the drive jets swivel for steering and a hood drops over them for reverse thrust.
Driving back up from Dublin, I miscalculated my timings so arrived in time to get on the conventional 1100 ferry. Having discharged, and driving past Cairnryan, I could see the 1215 HSS already well into the loch.
On the way to Belfast last Wednesday afternoon the HSS was bouncing about in seas that didn't look too bad - quite a sharp motion.
