There is a young lad who patrols up and down the stretch of river used to take off and land by the seaplane, his job is to pick up branches logs etc which might cause havoc to the plane, he will let you know if you are in the path of the plane and when it is about to take off.
There is a good pontoon at Braehead where you can tie up and Excape for a few hours, or you could always just shop there.
There was a lovely classic boat there a few weeks ago when I was up that way manning a safety boat at the Govan BVT dock, think she was called Rose or Flower of Caithness.
If you do manage to get as far as the pontoon at Broomilaw dont go out through the gates leaving no one behind to open them when you return or you will have to swim across the river from the other side to get back to your boat.
Enjoy.
Incidently I have a chart of the river if you want to borrow it, pm me.
Another idea is to check out the river on Google earth before going, it is quite effective.

Strange.
Has C_W gone off in a huff because of Silkie's refusal to give him more info about Huggie, was it the ribbing about the radio or is there another reason for him jumping ship?
In any event, he will be missed . . . the posting rate here has plummeted since his unexplained departure.

Never saw it myself but I heard that someone deleted one of his posts - maybe that had something to do with it?

Oh yes - I seem to recall I deleted a hastily made post with some mildly abusive content directed at or caused by a certain admin of this parish who wouldn't provide a potted bio of another forum member in spite of repeated requests to do so.

We saw Sahona in Loch na Droma Buidhe at the end of May.
I can't see why CW could have taken offence - none of knew any more about Huggy than Eamonn would have done; we just liked his videos. They're probably all enjoying their sailng.

IMHO deleted posts are tiresome for all concerned. Upsets the guy who made the original post. Also it's rather insulting to forumites who are old enough and ugly enough to decide for themselves what they should be reading.Nick wrote:.

I could be wrong but I suspect you're being a little misleading using the term 'abusive'.
Of course, I'm biased 'cos I enjoyed a wonderful weekend on Hummingbird in the Spring and enjoyed CW's posts and photos.
