The English Are Coming Part II

I have a couple of East coast sailors arriving tomorrow for a weeks meandering around the Clyde. I understand that the deepest water they have ever seen is 2 metres deep, and usually about 2 metres less than that.
Am I likely to have to calm their nerves when the depth sounder is showing over 50 metres?
Are they likely to suffer from some kind of water born vertigo, and what should I do to counteract this?
Should I switch the depth sounder off?

Pete, I used to suffer from this problem having previously sailed from Maldon for many years, there is a simple solution, set the depthguage to fathoms but tell them its reading feet.
The real problem will occur if you go to anchor, they will not be used to hauling that much chain :):)

I did wonder about insisting that they wear lifejackets backwards and pretending that they are parachutes.
