I would say a few harsher words rhyming with Duck would have been more appropriate when that happened.
Hope you went to have it checked at the casualty dept.
Get well soon.

Egg!
That's looks very nasty indeed and a good reason to be grateful the breeze wasn't fresher. I once crash-gybed in F6/7 and was very lucky indeed that no heads were in the way, even with my modest main. The crew's instant retort, noting that the mast was still standing, was "At least the rig is sound."

Only the merest smudge of purple remains. I had taken the precaution of shipping a tame medic who, true to form, was bu$$er all use and apart from checking for dilated pupils and waving two fingers at me (Barry Ferguson got struck off for less), offered no solace what-so-ever. He claimed that had I actually lost consciousness he would have called in the the big yellow taxi, or possibly big green taxi as we were in Irish waters at the time.
Thank you for your interest.

I'm pleased you've recovered.
Must say, that photograph gives me the willies, a reminder of how close we can be to departing this mortal coil as the result of a moment's inattention. Could have been so much worse.

Indeed, and a timely reminder at the start of the season when we are perhaps not quite so attuned to the ways of our boats as we were at the end of the last.

I got "boomwhacked" a few years ago and ended up in hospital with a depressed cheekbone.
since then, there has been talk of yotties wearing some kind of protective headgear.
Anyone prepared to volunteer? I certainly wasn't, in spite of having a lop-sided face.
