No credit crunch on Arran?

Arran appears not to be hit by the credit crunch and a big unnamed hotel would like to bounce my Saturday night family group booking on the grounds that it contravenes their minimum stay policy. They're obviously not concerned about filling their late autumn weekends. Maybe I'm missing something about the economic climate? I reckon our booking is worth about £1750 in total - probably more. Wish I could turn down business like that.

Part of an Email from me...

Dear Sirs

I organise an annual overnight stay & accommodation for a group of friends. This year we're proposing [late autumn date]. We normally have around 12 adults plus a range of children from 1 yr - 6 yrs old, although there could potentially be more - I will know more once I've proposed the location to them all.

...[more details including our requirement for a big family meal on the Sat night]

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,
[xxx]

Reply from hotel:

Dear Mr [x],

Thank you for your email. In response, we currently do have availability, however we operate a policy of a minimum of 2 nights stay over a weekend period (i.e. Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday.)

The accommodation rate is £... [more details]

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

A couple of years ago, we found a similar situation with the B&Bs in the Lake District - they wouldn't give a room for one night only during a weekend.

The hotel in question might have reason to regret their policy by the time it comes to the Autumn.

A sad reflection of the gap between reality and good customer service. You'd probably find that you must have breakfast within a one hour time slot which prompts the question - 'for whom do we run this establishment?'

Stuff em - there's plenty more places to stay.

Agree with Booby Trapper. That'd be the Auchrannie then. Bug*ers would be quick enough to sell you one of their time shares though....
