What is the best material for making dodgers?

Where should I get it from?

I can easily make a template for them but are there any suggestions as to the best way to fabricate them.( I have access to a heavy duty sewing machine and a person who can operate it.)

Thanks

I bought made up dodgers from this guy, very reasonable and easy to deal with.

He also supplies materials and fittings for making you own.

Bloke along the pontoon makes them and says that he allows a bit for stretch; so undersize but don't know by how much

I do mine on a heavy domestic machine and don't get stretch or shrinkage.
Scallop round deck cleats and fit a pocket or two on the inside.

Make super sure the thread is uv-proof.

We made our own, bought the material from hawke House.
We also bought the vinyl for the lettering and made those too. For the top rail, we bought closed cell pipe insulation, and just had the top of the dodger wrap over the top guard wire and the pipe foam (which is held onto the wire with wrapped Gaffer tape), so it gives a nice rounded feel to the guard wires to lean against. This is achieved with wide velcro.
Also, we made pockets which attached the rear face of the dodgers, and secured via the centre guardrail wire. Our spinnaker sheets and furling lines sat in there. In reality, we found it better to just use the centre guardwire to loop tie the sheets too, so we havent used the pockets dfor the last 3 seasons.
We bought a 1/2" punch and brass eyelet tool for about a fiver off ebay, and use tie wraps at the forward stanchion in 4 places up and down the height. At the rear, it fits a sloping pushpit, and we have spiral loop tied the dodger tight.
Altoget her very successful, and we whip them off to the washing machine once per year.

This shows the simplicity. Each end is turned over for a seam. and the eyelets provide a lot of the strength to hold it together.
We deliberately left a gap at he bottom so wwe could allow sheets and lines underneath.

All in all, took us about 3 evenings to do.
