Whilst having our morning swim on the Tobago Cays, this monster parked ahent us

Image

It's Tiger Woods auld tub and looks a bit like a Missippi paddle steamer wi oot the paddles; very broad beam, huge superstructure and very shallow draught, 6'.

Once the wind got on her beam, she sailed off at, I reckon, a knot or two and headed in our direction

Image

Hersel' wasnae awfy pleased aboot this and when the captain appeared at the bow and offered a bottle of champagne with a bit of rope to lower it into our cockpit, hersel telt him tae stuff it where the sun don't shine and would he shift his tub away frae us forthwith. The Capt muttered there wasn't anywhere else he could park but would go away and think about it and the bottle of champers stayed whur it wus.

Ma'sel, ah wus a wee bit equivocal aboot this. Huving got Brian (it wus Fatipa's boat Stingo we wus oan) a new stanchion efter a Norwegian hud a bash at us in Tyrell Bay, I could see Stingo's Aries wind pilot getting wiped oot (no bad thing as ah wus huving great difficulty hauling hersel ontae ra boat as the swim ladder went when the Aries wus fitted) and, with a bit of luck, a new back end plus engine which would be an all round bonus, *if* he didnae move it and the champers would hae jist added the finishing touch tae ma haggis ..

Image

He moved his boat back ... and, the next morning, came over with a bottle of White Star Moet, ra best, and apologised .. only himsel and 3 young girls as crew .... jings jings and jings

Haven't seen one that size using string on the anchor before, especially in a tight bay.(Pic 2)
Has he got two chains out in pic1 ? Go on - tell all.

Sizing and sexing....

Trouble with these things is sizing and sexing them to make sure you're not taking immature or pregnant ones. It's all a mystery.

Go find yer glasses & have another look. I can see a rope from stb'd plus a chain from port. I guess there isn't much of a tide around there or he would have an excellent rope & chain macrame scarf within 12 hours.

It certainly seems to have both out in the first pic but I can only see a wee bit of string in the second.

Second Pic

My worry would be that the piece of string is actually the trip line to the head of the anchor.
