Back On Line

I'm happy to say that I'm back on line, hopefully for longer than I was the last time.

I came off my antibiotics at midnight on 30th Dec, but only lasted 2 1/2 days before the infection flared up again and I had to re-admit myself to the Golden Jubilee Hosp with Rigors and a temperature of 40. Intravenous applications of 2 different antibiotics for 5 hours a day quietened the bugs sufficiently for me to go to theatre on the 8th where they conducted some open heart surgery to remove the two remaining pacemaker wires with attached clumps of infection and do some repair work to an iffy heart valve. I had a wee shot on the heart lung machine in theatre and a ventilator in ICU with a day in HDU before getting back to my ward and continuing with the IV regime.

I got home this afternoon with oral antibiotics for the next 4 weeks, and we'll need to see what happens after that. I'll need to negotiate getting another pacemaker once I'm declared free of infection. They're talking 3 months before I can get back to light work, and another one before I can do my normal 'humping' of big flight cases, lights, etc. I've got an impressive 250mm vertical scar up the front of my breastbone so I'll need to remove the modelling from my CV!

Ash :D :D

BTW - I like this new phpBB3 format, but haven't tried any of the new toys yet. Anyone know if it spell checks?

The same from me also! Hope you get your pacemaker sorted soon.

It's a lovely scar, isn't it? I've got one too after having a heart valve sorted out 2 years ago. If your fix is as good as mine, you'll be back sailing soon.

Jeez Ash, you've not got your troubles to seek at the moment. Good to hear you're back home again though and I hope the recovery continues to go to plan.

Awrrabest,

Dave

Welcome back again Ash, again. Let's hope you get chance to poste more, if the nursed complani tell them it's occupational therapy.

Fabulous news indeed.
This pacemaker, is it Volvo or Yanmar?

Ash, you should have taken it to a Jewelers, they might have been able to fit a new spring in it for you.

I see the problem now - Its got a Korean Jabsco rip off impeller, and a wonky Vetus filter. Plus, you are running it on non synthetic fluids.

Welcome back.
That scar ~ are you sure they haven't done a caesarian by mistake?

I'm no expert, but have always assumed that a caesarian was horizontal! Anyway, if you look closely at my belly, you'll see that I'm only at about 4 months.

Hell fire Ash, the last time I saw owt like that John Hurt was sprawled on a table and Sigourney Weaver was stood by with a flame thrower.

Note to self, don't post after a long night out using a keyboard where the letters have worn off.
