Meanwhile, over in the Lounge......

I know I shouldn't do it but I do enjoy the occasional rammy over there.

But some of them must be barking mad. One forumite recently posted an informative piece about men born before 6th April 1945 being able to buy added years for their state pensions (http://www.thepensionservice.gov.uk/state-pension/forecast/home.asp for those with an interest).

But, true to form, another poster doesn't believe it is "such a good idea to invest in a pension fund that has a similar investment grade rating to Italy"!

The OP responded by pointing out that with "a one-off payment of £1327", he would "receive at minimum an increase in pension of £786 each year". He gets this reply:
"With hyperinflation just around the corner why don't you buy 15 gold sovereigns which might be worth something when you reach pensionable age."

We all know about graduated pensions and all the other stuff that came and went, but what has gone wrong with their lives that they feel so negative about absolutely everything?

'The drones' main function is to be ready to fertilize a receptive queen. Drones in a hive do not usually mate with a virgin queen of the same hive because they drift from hive to hive. Mating generally takes place in or near drone congregation areas. It is poorly understood how these areas are selected, but they do exist. When a drone mates with its sister, the resultant queen will have a spotty brood pattern...'

I'd stay well clear of gold now. There is a massive case of oversupply there due to recent deleveraging and it is no longer seen as a defensive hedge. Coins...no way. You immeadiately lose 15% on purchase due to the outrageous buy/sell (bid/offer spread if you want) prices of the dealing cartels.
A good safe haven is German Bunds.
Want to hedge against hyperinflation? Borrow to the hilt and invest in land and commodities (esp agricultural)!

D's good for the mandolin (and fiddle).

What chords for the Roses o' Prince Charlie? Never played it before.

Think it was D again - nothing fancy - D, G and A7 I think
