No I didn't buy it although I was tempted by a tatty copy of another book by a favourite childhood author. Does anyone remember his name without googling?

Oh yes, another of his was 'the atom chasers' and the sequel 'the atom chasers in tibet' . I think he was a CofS Meenister in Kintyre or somewhere similary remote with an active imagination and too much time on his hands. They were dramatised for radio as well I recall.

Both quite correct of course. I read a page while standing in the shop but it didn't seem to have aged quite so gracefully as Trustee from the Toolroom.
