The Vega is a long-keeled, narrow-beamed 27ft Swedish design with its roots in the Folkboat. Well over 3,000 Vegas were built in a production run that extended more than a decade, and thousands of them are still sailing all over the world. Although originally designed as a relatively lightweight cruiser-racer, they have excellent seakeeping qualities - several have circumnavigated. There can be few cheaper bluewater capable boats available.

The Vega Association of Great Britain now have their own forum on the website, which is worth a visit.

The VAGB is just one of over 30 cruising yacht class or owners associations listed in our Organisations section, with new groups coming on line all the time.

This was the first thread on Shooting The Breeze in this incarnation of the forum, posted on 12th May 2002 - the forum has now been going continually for nearly nine years. I just dug this up to check that the database was all intact after the move.

VAGB now have a new website at http://www.albinvega.co.uk/
