Does anyone have any experience, information, tips or advice about cruising in the Gulf of Venice? We are due to sail from Aquileia from 14th to 24th September. Anything at all would be much appreciated.
Thanks

We have recently returned from sailing with friends in Croatia. We sailed over from Pula and had 3-days in Venice. We didn't sail at all within the lagoon - motored throughout. We berthed in the Sta Elena marina - busy, but clean and quiet at night. It is an easy 15 min stroll to the Vaporetto station. These are good value if you get a multi - journey ticket. Fast and frequent, they are a good way to get about. It would appear Venice has a local slant on Colregs. We found yachts under power were pretty predicable, small power boats were unpredicable but large power boats and all commercial craft were totally predictable - you gave way or suffered the consequences.
Have a great trip

Thanks for that Dave, much appreciated, pretty much like sparring with the local fishermen and the bloody navy in the Forth of Clyde then!
