Was over at Lamlash this weekend and picked up a mooring.
The cost for an overnight stop on the mooring was £10. I was somewhat surprised considering no services were provided and plenty of space to anchor locally ( I just wanted the security of a mooring as I was on my own) what do the rest of you thing? are they getting greedy.

Don't know about getting gready it's been £10 for at least 3 years. That was the last time I paid. Always used the anchor since then.

I am with Booby Trapper on this one as the mooring fee hasn't increased since the trot went down. The moorings were laid by the Lamlash Sailing Club at their own initiative and have to cover the initial capital cost as well as on-going servicing so I don't think £10 is over the top.
Anchoring is a preferred option in summer, either off Holy Isle or at Kings Cross, but in winter with a hooley blowing the moorings are a welcome bit of security.

They're in the rolly bit of water, and have that infrenal Holy Isle ferry running through. Better by far to anchor. I gripe at paying, especially as it's the annoying ferry man that collects. Only crew pressure dictates.....

Not being critical at all - just a different way of looking at things I suppose. I know the capability of my ground tackle and would rather place trust in that than a visitor mooring.
