.
Well, the first of our serial dogsitters is in residence and we are just about to go on board for the start of our 'Summer' cruise. Expectations are low after looking at the weather and we plan to start with a ten mile thrash to windward in F6-7 to Kerrera, as I have a few jobs to do on the boat before we head West.

Plan is to head up to Stornoway for the Hebridean Festival of Sail then back down to Vatersay and home - but we are on holiday and will be avoiding unnecessary unpleasantness as far as possible.

Hoping to maybe see one or two of you (Shard?) along the way.

Separate boats then?

Hi Nick, well you'll have had a breezy start. We came back from Loch Aline today in a 6, which, given the flatness of these sheltered waters gave some great sailing. Left last Thursday, back tonight; visiting Eigg and Muck. Pretty good weather most of the time.

Have to work for a few days, but, yes, will keep an eye open for you.

Back early

Took a week to get out of the Sound of Mull, spent three days hanging on the anchor in Canna, got blown to the Old Forge and had a rubbish meal and a rolly night then came back via the Mishnish and a pint or two with the Shards.

Weather coming through Cuan yesterday afternoon so smeggy I barely recognised the place. Not impressed so decided to put a week's dogsitting back in the bank.

A fuller account to follow.

The Crossing to Rotterdam was very smooth - we dined lavishly and drank well then retired to our cabin.
Breakfast was taken at 06:00 hrs in the morning then we guided the fine ship Pride of Rotterdam into her berth and disembarked.

Sound just like any other summer cruise tae me - just thinking that at this very moment last year I was taking drink in the evening sunlight on Vatersay Beach with the Aja's - where are the Beatons nowadays?
