States that any substantial advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic
Does this mean that my new autopilot system will be magic?
The bill was substantial if that helps you decide

I'm starting to get the impression that Claymore is costing you more out of the water than she normally does when in and being sailed for the season.

I suspect Clarkes Law only comes into effect at the moment that you have to try to mend it.

And the likelihood of any event is inversely proportional to its desirability.

Ah, but, he's got 'ER dispensation - this could just be the tip of the iceberg. If he gets all the rest of the kit, he can sleep all the way from Fleetwood to Kilmelford, probably stretched out on the new teak deck, occasionally showered in hot water from the calorifier, the main drawing beautifully on it's new sheet-track, as the waypoints are auto-gobbled up. Must have been one hell of a rise, although my little soup-dragon manages to do almost as much on a no-contribution OAP - it's all in the mind.

"And the likelihood of any event is inversely proportional to its desirability."
And directly proportional to its cost.
Although I do feel a twinge of guilt for teasing Claymore about this, I'm a bit of a gadget freak myself.
As an afterthought - is there a relationship between Clarke's Laww and Sod's Law.
I somehow feel that there ought to be
Slumbering ...

unlikely. his lairdship will be stretched out in the rear as per normal except that, having convinced dear heart of the purchase of the autopilot with the latest blue tooth gadget, this will permit command of the auld tub without having to raise himself from his bunk. No more will his crew have to interpret the muffled instructions emanating from his supine form.
Indeed, a frightening thocht has jist occurred tae masel'. Wi' Fiona the tom-tom navigator issuing instructions orra while, his lairdship need never raise himsel' frae his bunk .. ever ... and he'll have downloaded a ring tone mimicing HRH to the device ...
