Announcing the BlueMoment Burgee Competition
Get your artistic heads on and come up with a practical and attractive design for a BlueMoment burgee.
Parameters are:
~ a maximum of 4 colours
~ traditional burgee shape
~ distinctive
~ easy to recognise at a distance
~ in some way able to be associated with the site
~ no bloody silly mice
~ not too likely to get the wearer arrested
The competition is open to all members of the forum and will run until 30th June. Judging will be by a panel of highly respected judges (masel', Garredfox and Silkie) and the top 3 designs will be posted on here after the closing date for a final polled judgement by you, the members.
The eventual winner will be awarded a truly lavish prize in the form of a
set of 5 of C J Taylor PoArtic T-Towels to grace the galley of their vessel.
All entries should be posted on here as linked gifs or jpegs, with a maximum long dimension of 700px. (If the original is at a higher resolution so much the better, but reduce it to post it on here).
Entries by the Management, the judging panel and their family and friends are specifically encouraged and here's the Managment's initial entry:

Thankyou for your deeply considered comment but strangely enough that was part of the idea. Web empires don't run themselves you know, and the workforce here at Webcraft Towers don't spend hundreds of hours a year working on this site purely for your entertainment.
We are looking forward to seeing the best efforts of Sgeir Enterprises. In the meantime, we would like to remind you that your subscription is overdue and that we will be sending the boys round should a cheque not be forthcoming by return. Alternative payment methods in the form of a bottle of a decent single malt will of course be perfectly acceptable.

I think that you are cheapening a fine tradition by inventing new burgee designs.
Join a decent Yacht Club and fly theirs.

My feeble attempt

Now, while I have nothing against the couple that have already been posted, I would just like to point out that when, or if, they were printed, the writing would appear erse aboout face on the other side of the burgee, if you see whit ah mean.
It's my opinion, though I'm sure others will disagree with me, that one of the attributes of a burgee is that it can be read from either side.
I'm no artist by any stretch of the imagination, so here then, is my feeble effort -
The predominant colour is blue, as in
BlueMoment.
The white "M" represents
Moment.
The white/blue can also be (very loosely) associated with the flag of Scotland, since it is a Scottish based website.
Which brings me to the web. The web represents Webcraft, our esteemed host for this forum. Red, because we have all "red" the posts of others.
I'm sure that you will agree that this can be read from either side.
All comments should be written on the back of a £10 note, and sent to me here . . . .

I like it

You are of course totally correct about the both sides thing. It is possible to make burgees that are different on each side, but it is much more expensive as it basically involves sewing two flags together or printing both sides, depending on method of manufacture.
Let's have some more double sided efforts then . . .

I've got an idea but can't draw it. Anyone got any suggestions for free drawing software to download? I used to have something from Serif but their download centre is currently out of action.

A modest offering
A subliminal BlueMoment, a western silhouette,
and it should work both sides !

THIS seems to be working - just click continue if it gives you the old security certificate malarkey.

That's the site I was trying but if you actually click to download v4 it comes up with an apology.
Just downloading it now . . .

It seems to be coming down from a server somewhere to me just now, but it is a bit slow. Will e-mail you it or put it on the server if it all arrives OK.

How about a broad pennant?
It needs tidying up and a symmetrical B but hey - I just learned to use a new software package.
(It's not supposed to be a white rectangle - I just couldn't figure out how to make the page disappear.)
