Nearly. But Sgeir made it sound quite attractive, what with no football colours in the pub, and nice food to be found 3/4 mile away in another town!

Nonsense. I just have an easy-going loveable personality and an enquiring mind. There are some very interesting pubs in Ardrossan, not least the
Britannia, formerly called the
Lord Carson's. More at

He drinks on the boat until he can't physically get ashore then fantasises some sort of Brigadoon version of Ardrossan.
(Sorry for emptying the whisky tank on Saturday - most enjoyable . . .)
You're back!

Had to abandon a MOB demontration in Lamlash Bay yesterday morning when it started gusting over 40 knots - and the trawler fishing its way through the middle of the exercise didn't help either. Several gusts over 50 knots as we cleared the lee of Arran, and a very brisk ride back to Ardrossan with the final excitement of getting the crew to round up behind the breakwater in 35 knots with the spray coming over the top horizontaly.
Very bracing!

We were using the danbuoy as the casualty.
Luckily it wasn't trawled and I (just) managed to recover it under engine with 40 knots over the deck.
