RYA Met Map

Not only was I first to post on this fourm, I'm going to be second as well. . . .

I've just downloaded the pdf shipping forecast areas and map from the RYA website. Can someone please explain all the numbers on the map? They seem to be in groups of 2 - for example, off Peterhead there is 5 over 13, while away out to the west in Rockall, there is 9 over 13.

I couldn't find an explanation on the RYA site, but it may be there somewhere!

Cheers

They are mean sea temperatures (degrees C). I can't remember if they are max and min or June and December (or possibly two other fixed months, closer to max and min times such as July, Jan).

The numbers relate to sea temperatures in March and September (I think).

Thanks Guys.

Mind you, I think 13 off Peterhead is a bit optimistic. It never seems that warm to me :!:
