On attempting to upgrade the Yotblog software major issues were encountered . . . :wallbash:

This project has been abandoned for now, and normal service has been resumed :doh!

It's to be appreciated that you are man enough to admit something doesn't work and start again. I'm working for an organisation that's had a faulty computer system since 2002. They never went back to the original system (which worked fine) and should have told the computer people to start again. Result? Public Relations disaster & questions asked in the House

I see Terminal 5 has reopened & whole planeloads of baggage have already gone missing!

Thanks

The upgrade I was attempting to perform is not supported by the software creators, and it looks as though at the very least everyone's uploaded images are likely to be lost, plus there are issues with edited templates and a few other things.

What may happen is that yotglog.com continues very much 'as is' for existing bloggers but permanently closed to new registrations and I bite the bullet and shell out on a new (expensive) software installation for Yotblog2 which will have all the bells and whistles that modern seagoing bloggers expect . . .

Existing bloggers can then choose to keep their old blogs or upgrade to a new one or both. The new system would, I think, allow me to charge a few pennies for some of the bells and whistles if I choose to do so, so over time I could perhaps recoup the costs.

How does that sound to people?

Will see if there is any money left in the Webcraft coffers next month . . .

Setting up YotBlog2

Am in the process of setting up a new version of YotBlog on a new server. Once this is up and running I will let everyone know.

Those of you with existing blogs will have the choice of :

a) Taking out a new account and continuing your existing blog from there (with a link on your last blog entry on the old server)

b) Manually moving your whole blog to the new server

c) Continuing as before to add to your blog on the old server

Entirely your choice.

Oh dear. Might I suggest a manual typewriter, two paper cups and a length of string?

Oh and can ladies start web logs?

I'm sure that you would be made most welcome if you wished to start a YotBlog

Ooh well, maybe not after that comment, IIRC Webcraft now has to approve all applications and he'll maybe take the huff.

Maybe the TAASC could approve it, he's a much softer touch but you had better be quick before WC gets back from the high seas near Barra.

Ash :) :)

Not sure if this reads the way I intended.

What I mean is that he's a kind, warm hearted gentleman.

Phew - hopefully got my edit in before Silkie read it - I shouldn't do late night postings.

Ash  :)
