Are marinas floating mortuaries?

Don't know about dead bodies, but most places seem to have a dead boat or two.
There is at least 3 in Peterhead that I've never seen anyone at, and another 2 on the hard.
What happens to these people? I'm assuming that they are still paying berthing fees. Always seems a shame to me.

It happens. There was a merchant seaman who used to live on a boat in Island Harbour some years ago and he would walk up the Medina footpath and drink in a pub in Newport. Everyone was well used to seeing him every night for a month or two and then not seeing him again for several months. He was not seen for quite some time and eventually someone had cause to enquire at his boat, only to find that on this occasion he hadn't gone back to sea and had become a pool of gloop in his bunk over the summer.

Sounds a good way to go to me, just not for a little while yet tho' for me please.
Suspect it wouldn't do much for the resale value of the boat - but that won't worry original owner will it?
