Needed to buy some masking tape today as I was doing the antifouling. The stuff I had intended to use which had been in the garage for at least a year would not come off the roll without snapping.
I thought I would have to give the robbing barstewards in the chandlery my hard earned. Then I had a brainwave, try the new ASDA next to the marina. Guess what? 25M of masking tape 89p. Brilliant!

I'm like you and use cheap masking tape, but I always take it off as soon as the coat of A/F is on and then re-tape for the second coat. Takes a bit of time, but it's MUCH easier than trying to get the tape off after it's been on a week or so.

Second that - get the expensive blue stuff if you have to leave it on for any length of time.
