BLUEMOMENT

Well I'm finally done with working on the boat for the day but one thing crossed my mind while beavering away, and that's the question of music (yeh I know, little things please......) but anyway.
When I finally launch and make my first, relatively speaking long, trip I would like to enter the destination marina with some music playing loudly, to announce my accomplishment. Yes, I know it's childish but whatever.
I'm tempted to go for Elgar and Nimrod, but that could be a tad sombre, or Lieutenant Pigeon and a bit of Mouldy Old Dough.
Any suggestions ?

Jim (FullCircle) and I once sailed through the middle of the racing fleet off Harwich with the cruising chute up, and the 1812 overture playing at full volume on his cockpit sound system...... well it made me laugh anyway....

Funnily enough I'm sitting in the office playing that very track, and been told to use headphones because Louise can't hear the TV No accounting for taste, TV as opposed to music, no competition.

They played that at the 2nd or 3rd Edinburgh Fireworks Concert (which, for anyone not familiar with it, is a great spectacle: the castle in the background, and all the fireworks being let off from the ramparts in time to the music.) Anyway, for the 1812 they had all the sound effects arranged big style, with several surrounding churches ringing bells at the appropriate point, and real cannon joining in, reinforced by an absolutely massive morter. The noise was unbelievable, and the pressure pulses set off just about every shop's burglar alarm in Princes Street...

Never made it to any of the big events in Edinburgh, but I was there back in the early 70's. I was in the Air Training Corp. when the old man was based at Kinloss and I ended up in the athletics team. The Scottish competitions were held at RAF Turnhouse and I proudly walked away with two gold medals, and one silver. I wasn't always a sloth.

The big-band theme ¨music from the film and tv show Naked Gun is hard to beat to get people up on deck and reaching for fenders.

That's more like it. I'm afraid I'm not much of a Bowie or Dylan fan, but the big band sound, now that is the sort of inspirational stuff I'm after. I always think Dylan and Bowie sound like they're getting ready to top themselves. As for the Theme from 'The Guns of Navarone, it's on the list to download, definitely.
