I saw a really neat tip somewhere else about holding synthetic bearings in place when reassembling eg furling gear. I use grease for steel bearings, but you can use shaving foam for plastic ones

Flavour of gel is irrelevant I find, but if its Hai Karate, dont do it while the missus is about, or you will lose yer trews.

Hai Karate it is..a tip of immense worth..ta.

If I used Lynx gel, would my boat suddenly be able to do 45kn and make a big wash? And would the crew suddenly look extremely attractive and be willing to do anything??

Now Now Big Wow, even I can remember "Old Spice" and my bus pass is faded with age!!
