Did I blink and miss any posts on the passing of the Equinox? Ashton anchorage is emptying though the Etchells mostly vanished at the end of August and are ashore at JWD. The club Pipers were spirited away before the final club event of the season - the Round Cumbrae race last weekend. This weekend is the CCC Closing Muster to Tarbert. Household and garden chores can no longer be avoided!
It seems to have been a very short season with very disturbed weather. Forecasts have had large variations between mean wind speeds and gusts where the gusts have tended to be sustained for hours rather than minutes. I seem to remember steady winds, both in strength and direction, but not this year. I and others have expressed the idea that if this year's weather is the new norm then that is the end of boat ownership for us.
With that happy note I am still going ahead with my winter maintenance planning (not that I ever complete the lot) with engine strip-down at the top. I have spent the last 2 months with 2 working cylinders and 1 with no compression! Good luck to the rest of you.
