Snow is my friend.
recently incarcerated as I was in Danelandia for the duration of the Jul period and climbing walls due to overexposure to family and continuous forced bonhomie and rollmops - Divine intervention in the form of a promised 1ft of snow arrived.
Dear Heart and self duly donned our ferret suits and legged it out of there, caught an earlier ferry and are now gratefully returned home to C.Towers.

There is a God.
Happy New Year

I thought you would tell us that you managed to escape over the mountains on stolen skis. Would have been a bit more exciting.

I think that is what happened, and Claymore is being his usual modest self. The escape was in a Heroes of Telemark or Where Eagles Dare style. Naybe I watched too many war films over the holidays. . .

I've only ever been to Esjberg and that would have been on a booze cruise in the 70's! Are there no hills?

Well
just coming out of intensive care and off the life support systems.
waded ball-deep through snow, up to my oxters in muck and bullets just to tell you all the tale.
Being the product of a long line of cowards (Grandad won the Ypres All-Comers sprint - they say he'd made it to Carlisle before they could stop him)
I cast my baleful eye on the sky. I then consulted 5 forecasts and all said the same - time tae buggeroffski.
So the ferret suit was quickly donned and then it was pedal to the metal all the way to Hamburg where conditions were comparatively Mediterranean compared with the Tundra infested reaches of North Jutland. I often mention Admiral Jellicoe when in those parts but its never well received.
The Ibis Budget in Quickborn was a delight - I love that garish green.
Managed to buy an early passage from the robbing annoying people at P&O and we were soon lounge-lizarding in the Piano Bar on the Pride of Rotterdam.
I found the whisky quite pricey having discovered old fecklesses stock and given it a decent rinsing
Anyway - home now and alls well

You'll be straight up to work on the boat, then?

We're just away to Australia on Monday. Sailing from Melbourne to Hobart and back then flying to Vietnam and then home mid March.

Can't do this weather any more....
