Diesel in the Western Isles

I am planning (fingers crossed) an extended (6-8 weeks) cruise of the Western Isles. Reading the CCC directions, I get the impression that there are few opportunities to get diesel unless you get the Council key which costs £20 and I think is limited to over 100 litres per fill.
The boat's tank holds 150 litres and there are 2 by 10 litre cans. Sailing boat so we don't use all that much (about 2 litres/hour under engine) but it might be windless and we need electricity for all sorts of things. I am generally quite fuel-sensitive, mainly because I don't trust the fuel gauge. It's very non-linear but so is the tank.
How easy have people found access to diesel? I am prepared to cycle a few miles to fill the cans at a garage.
