numbers up ...

over the last few weeks when i pop in to see what`s going on i`ve noticed that i am either on my own or sometimes one other member logged in but up to as many as 8 or 9 unregistered users browsing. this latter number seems to have been arrived at only in the last few weeks, prior to that it was usually 3 at most.
anyone have a view as to what is causing this ?

(and registered users who haven't logged in) it's mostly search engine spiders.
