New registrations for YotBlog have been temporarily suspended.

The database is getting too big to back up easily on the current server, so the site will shortly be moved to a new server.

Existing users are not affected.

Until when? Someone was asking me recently, as if I'd know! Pointed them to blogger but they have demurred, too shy to blog there so waiting until yotblog accepts registrations again.

So how about it Nick - when does the new server / storage come online?

I'm interested in the tight-fisted auld gonad's response here - a new server er anither round o' drinks.....not easy.

Well, the project - in my usual inimitable business style - runs at a loss, and while I am delighted to keep it going for the people who are currently using it and promise that it will not close it is hard to work up the enthusiasm for opening it up to unmonitored new registrations again as the percentage of spammy registrations was on the up.

So here's the deal - if anyone wants a YotBlog let me know and I will set up an account for you immediatement. Just PM me here with your requested user name and password and I will set it up. Only quid pro quo is that they post occasionally on the BlueMoment forums.

I am also going to delete all the unused or spam accounts over the next few months, which will free up some space. People who give good blog can have their piccy allowance increased if they want it . . . although linking from PhotoBucket or somewhere similar is always preferable from a storage / bandwidth point of view.
