I've sailed in and out of here for years now, taken a variety of lines both when entering and leaving and never experienced any difficulties.
Imagine my horror a couple of weeks ago whilst engaged in Social Intercourse with one of the more elderly and reverend contributors to this forum, when he recalled to me his encounter with a hard lump of a thing apparently fixed to the sea bed in there.

As he sailed off for the furthest, darkest lattitudes of Dallens Bay I'm sure he muttered something about the advantages of Southerly Yachts.....

A bit of a shock to me too when I first heard of this incident having always had the highest regard for the big yin's seamanship. He has also been uncharacteristically vague about the details but, as you say, this may be an age thing.

He did say it was a very loud bang, but then with ears like that.....

I wondered when this would surface.......... So I decided to beat you to it and own up on Scuttlebutt before you had a chance. So there!

Anyway, it's a long story, of a faraway place, and no-one would be interested. So suffice to say that it all happened because our dinghy developed a slow leak, and, errmm, one thing led to another, like, umm, the fluttering of a cleg's wing in Loch Melfort causing a chimney pot to collapse in Bratislava. That kind of thing.

Trust you had a pleasant cruise - did you see any more of Aja?

Wonderfully pleasant cruise thank you. parted company with Aja in Vatersay and then went on to Canna, Soay, Scavaig where we took to the hills, Plockton, Tobermory, Port Ramsey, Dallens Bay, Loch Creran, Oban and Kilmelford.
Wonderful headwinds all the way, but only the bit from Kerrera to Easdale was rough with a choppy 28 knots registering on the bashometer.
We are up again on Saturday, Muzzy, Para and self to sail the good yat back tae southern waters - well Fleetwood. Are you aboot?

I'm meaning to be about this w/e. Current plan is to get to Craobh late Saturday morning (SWMBO has acquired Tatoo tickets for tomorrow night), then nothing fixed. More than happy to rendezvous if that would fit your plans - and it would get a certain bit of machinery off your hands...

Sorry we missed you at Dallens Bay - I'm afraid we haven't been out since seeing you at Tobermory. Going north tomorrow but doesn't look too great at the moment, south or southwest 6 or 7, occasionally gale 8, decreasing 5 or 6.... sea state moderate or rough, occasionally very rough in west later... rain or drizzle clearing for a time. Plus a severe weather warning (heavy rain)for the area to the north. Hmm....

On the other hand, I'm pleased I'm not having to sail south round the Mulls.

If it's really crap, might motor down to Melfort to see you off.
