Just a quickie to apologise for the lack of
blog entries - I have only got up to Day 3 posted so far and it is now Day 15 - it's actually written up to Day 12 or so in Word, but trying to upload over a mobile link is causing penury and other grief and of course I'm on a cafe machine here in Kirkwall at the moment with no access to my deathless prose . . .
A man in a pub on another island has said I can plug the laptop in there when we go back, so will hopefully have the blog up to date by the weekend or thereabouts.
A summary so far:
Orkney - Magic
Weather - Cr*p

I had assumed that it would only be technical/financial issues that were causing the deafening silence from Fairwinds but was nonetheless starting to get just a teensy bit concerned that it might be more serious.

The rosts haven't got us yet - but the tides up here are a wondrous thing and passage planning to the nearest ten minutes can be critical when you only have an ancient Volvo to get you out of (or into?) trouble.
Right, my time is up on this PC - got to go, more later when stuff and things permit . . .

Just been given a mini-tour of Kirkwall and surroundings by Geordie (orion21) who also very kindly took me to get gas and diesel. Had a look at his boat as well - a very nice Trapper 300.
Blog is now (almost) up to date - as far as reaching here anyway - see it

Probably off to Shapinsay tomorrow - a terrifying death defying trip of some three miles . . . then Stronsay and Sanday, maybe North Ronaldsay and back to Pierrowall for the Westray Regatta next weekend.
Watch this space . . .
