Skill and powerful thrusters. Ardrossan harbour entrance proves challenging for the MV Caledonia.

I’m surprised they didn’t bail out on it - Calmac have turned into real pussies these days.

I came over from Brodick this afternoon. Blowing most of 20+ Kts SSW, maybe 1.5m seas outside the entrance. (we have sailed in with these conditions) The Caley Isles managed the sharp starboard turn with aplomb - rolling a bit as the beam seas got her.
No big deal. It worked. Either somebody new is helming or there is political pressure from on high in Calmac.
They won't berth in Ardrossan overnight with a WSW wind over 20 as she gets pinned to the quay (and the motion interferes with a good sleep I gather!)
Calmac crew individually are fine. Their corporate leadership leaves a lot to be desired...

Having just read the MAIB report on the sinking of a moored yacht in Cowes by an out-of-control ferry
see HERE, I wonder if there is anywhere in our neck of the woods where something similar might happen.

Not so long ago
... The new pontoons were damaged but no yachts were affected (not sure if the pontoons were in use then).
