We've bought another boat

Bought a Morgan Giles 30 that is lying unused in Dunstaffnage - was a gift to the sea cadets, but they can;t use it because no-one has a YM instructor ticket. She's just been sitting on the hard for two years.

Plan is to refit and titivate her her over the Winter then take her to the Canaries and base her there for Winter sailing and for friends and family to use as a holiday apartment. We will be keeping Fairwinds for Summer sailing in Northern waters.

Looks nice lines. Pity that so many boats lie un-used like that.
I was at Rhu marina today and noticed a nice Rival 34 been sitting there for about 6 years on the hard, un-used. Someone must be paying the fees, but what a waste?

Well done. This must be a win, win all round. A boat is being used as it should, the cadets get some cash, and you get a boat. I couldn't decipher the font used for her name, is it Amy J?

You've gone to the other extreme with an example of only 70 built! I take it that the interiors are all unique if they were home completed.

Has she been re engined?

I saw your enquiry elsewhere about Bill of Sale. When I sold Mistral, I thought that the RYA Bill of sale was a bit overcomplicated, so used the 2 page MCA example. I printed it as a double sided document on heavy paper and then completed it in ink.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... e-msf-4705

The Bill of Sales that we have for Kyora just identify her by name and length, despite the fact that she has an HIN.

You could always add a build number to the Bill of Sale at a later date if your research turns up the info.

Best of luck with the new purchase, don't let Fair winds become jealous!

Just discovered she is newer than I thought - she is currently lapsed on the Guernsey SSR (Part 1) and when I enquired it seems she is registered as a Morgan Giles 30 1977. So at 40 a mere stripling compared to Fairwinds!

Thankyou. Talked to the guy who gave her to the Sea Cadets today and found out quite a lot about her past. She has had new standing rigging in the last ten years and only sailed about 50 hours since getting it. Fuel tank is cleaned. TekDek is almost new. Sails were brand new used once by him and maybe 20 hours by the sea scouts. Mast step has been reinforced with a mast support incorporated into the forward bulkhead. Engine has had a fair bit of work done. Furling gear is not very old.

So all in all a nice wee boat, just needing titivating to make her perfect. Looking forward to going offshore in her next year.

I wondered if that was TekDek or similar. Looks smart.
I'm tempted by the stuff but would be better to buy a boat where someone had paid for it already! Will have to be Kiwi Grip for me...

I see that you have bought a reliable anchor for the new boat. Hope it's as "Strong as a Knox".

Our crew for launch day and bringing her round to Balvicar has fallen ill. We are now planning to leave her on a pontoon at Dunstaffnage overnight tonight and bring her round tomorrow.

Anyone available for a jolly? (Unlikely I know, but thought I would ask on here first - next recruiting drive will be in the T&T later on)
