Argyll FM - Interesting!

As I drove over the pass between Loch Lomond and Loch Long as usual Radio Scotland faded to a hiss. This time rather than wait I scanned the channels and came across Argyll FM.

Now, maybe I am wrong, but either the people of Argyll are considered slow on the uptake red necks, or the radio station is being run by slow on the uptake red necks, maybe both.

The dictation during the adverts is about 4 words a minute and the speaker just manages to pronounce each word in proper english. It also appears that only Campbeltown garage is advertising for oil sales up to mid Argyll only. I guess their world is very small indeed.

At the 4th playing of some Country and Western song I went back to the hiss.

The station is run on a shoe string by volunteers out a cupboard in Oban....

What do you expect for nothing?

Very disrespectful of me and I am just being cheeky. I actually liked their selection of rock songs and the country and western was not as bad as I make out, I listened to it from the pass to Cairnbaan and back again and enjoyed it. I was not persuaded to go to Campbeltown for my winter car check though.

Good luck to them.

I've heard that one from Campbeltown north to Ardishaig while on the water.
I love the tseuchter (sp?) accent.

Once came across a really interesting jazz programme on there, but was when you just touch a search button or spin a dial on FM.

I don't have the necessary qualifications to operate the current radio.
