So what about it? Or is there some other date or place you would prefer?

For those with short memories the proposal was - Edinburgh, The Doric, Wednesday 5th December, ~ 20.00. Handy for trains (for the young ones), buses (for the fogeys), bicycles (for the fit) and airport coaches (for the far flung).

Having missed this highlight of the social season last year I would very much like to attend on this occasion and I understand why a Wednesday in early December is a good idea but for someone working at 0800 on Thursday and who has an hour's travelling each way into Edinburgh for an event which doesn't start until 2000...

Put me down as a definite maybe.

It was only a suggestion. Far be it for me as a man who has paid his debt to society and is now footloose and fancy free to dictate the time and place to those who are supporting the NHS, bus passes, RET, fuel allowance and all the other goodies that cheer me in my dotage. If another time or venue would suit better throw it in the ring and I'm sure the old farts will manage to get there - won't you, Ken?

No no no - an arrangement has been made.

I remember making an appointment for a beer with Ocklepoint a couple of years ago and, allcomers having also been invited, being somewhat put out when the allcomers wanted to change the date, the venue and even the town IIRC.

I'll be there - energy levels at 1700 on Wednesday 8th December (and Allah) permitting.

I might venture to suggest an advance party kicking off at 1900 - just to get maximum value from the bus fare you understand, for those who still have to pay.

Surely some mistake? In the Julian calendar my understanding is that that Wednesday is the 5th December.

1900? I'll be there.

( And yes, as one of the countries few "getting up for work from Monday to Friday" yachtspersons Fridays or Saturday evenings have an attraction) Maybe next year.

Wednesday is a work day for me, just up the road from the Doric so I could even be there for a pre-pre drinks drink at about 1800. I could then have a pre-drinks drink when Silkie and Dave start, and fall senseless to the floor about 2030.

That's how I go drinking too, it's good to get the bus home instead of having to pay for an expensive taxi @ 2AM.

Have a very good night everyone - sorry I won't be with you; I was considering exercising my bus pass, but manflu has laid me low.
