Should I relabel the switch that says "steaming light" to "power-driven vessel light"?

It looks like she has just won her starboard anchor so probably exhaust from the capstan.Rowana wrote:Mark wrote:
Talking of steam, what is the steam exiting at the bow near the waterline for?
Anybody know?
In my day, exhaust steam went back to the condenser and then to the hotwell to be pumped back to the boiler to be made into steam again.marisca wrote:It looks like she has just won her starboard anchor so probably exhaust from the capstan.Rowana wrote:Mark wrote:

I think Marisca is already half committed to bringing his project to The University of Edinburgh where we can smooth his path to a PhD, unlike Lancaster which evidently offers an inferior degree, the Lancaster Phd.claymore wrote:"What is wrong with Nick?"
I feel that is an original question and as such, with some refinement and development, could attract research funding leading, possibly, to acceptance to undertake a Phd. The University of Lancaster would, I am sure be interested and I would be happy to act as your supervisor as you refine your question and outline your research methodology.
We could discuss fees at a later date........
It all depends on the available funding. The AHRC don't seem to be offering anything and there is doubt about the "humanity" aspect anyway. The EPSRC are more likely with the computing aspects. The MRC may turn up trumps if the research is into adverse psychological and personality changes caused by prolonged exposure to internet fora.Up a Hill wrote:I think Marisca is already half committed to bringing his project to The University of Edinburgh where we can smooth his path to a PhD, unlike Lancaster which evidently offers an inferior degree, the Lancaster Phd.claymore wrote:"What is wrong with Nick?"

OK I look forward to seeing your application. You should know that we expect cringing obsequiousness (or however you spell that) from our supervisees. Should be no problem for youmarisca wrote: It all depends on the available funding. The AHRC don't seem to be offering anything and there is doubt about the "humanity" aspect anyway. My preference is for Edinburgh - there are more Engerlander yahs there than at Lancaster.
