So, where are we going, or where are we at?
Linlithgow........Edinburgh
Edinburgh........Linlithgow
It was the good Silkie who proposed this "rendez-vous" and to refer to the original question it was "Christmas drink -Embra?" and not ""Christmas drink- Lithgae?" (not wishing to sound pedantic)

I would definitely be up for a Friday night drink in Edinburgh, slightly less likely to take the train to Linlithgow. The Captain's Bar has a logical resonance for such a gathering but is usually quite crowded and I'm not sure about the seating situation there ( awhile since I have visited though). The Jolly Judge (in James' Court off the Lawnmarket) is cosy and not too busy usually, or there's The Doric (the bar downstairs not the bistro) in Market St which is very handy for the railway station and bus pass users.

Seating in The Doric of a Friday night?
And there is The Hebridean next door
Whats the name of that bar halfway down the close behind the old Scotsman building?

So have we decided where we're going for an Embra swally on the 3rd of December?
(Persons wishing to associate in Linlithgow/Falkirk/Stirling/Doune on this or any other night are of course welcome to start threads to that end.)

There's the Halfway House next to Jinglin G's too. They are both pretty small. Based on Border Maid's information that it's not busy, I would second the Jolly Judge.

OK, well I 'work' within walking distance so any time after about 4.30...
Maybe 7 or 7.30 would be more realistic for most people?

It is with much regret that I inform yousyins that I shall be unable to join you on the 3rd. Family duties with a 3 line whip require that I shall be damaging my liver on Lewis that night.
Sorry! (and so likely will ma heid and liver be on Saturday)

Sorry Dave. My Linlithgow was originally a "by the way", made in belief that the whole caboodle had burnt down, and wasn't meant to detract from your Edinburgh suggestion. But, when it emerged that the wee pub was still open, it kind of took on legs.

Wasn't intended. See you in Embra.
