Anyway boats, is it important to be seen in the right gear?
Oh most definitely!

This is what I prefer for everyday deck wear . . .

"There is a very good reason for Scotland having a devolved assembley and a working government run by a purely Scottish party, it didn't happen by chance. Scotland is a different country politically, always has been before and after the Act of Union, and in spite of the pressures of globalisation it looks as though it is holding on to that different identity very strongly. "

All this, despite being subsidised by the English taxpayer.

Personally, I think we would be MUCH better WITHOUT the Scottish parliament. And also the European lot.

We now have, in addition to the MP's we have had for the last few hundred years, MSP's, MEP's, all of whom have their secretaries, researchers, expense accounts Etc., Etc.

How much is all this lot costing us, FFS :?: And what good do they do :?:

If we ever get a UKIP or BNP candidate up here, they can be assured of my vote :!:

Now don't get me wrong. I am NOT really in favour of these parties, but until we get another Churchill, we MUST get a few of these candidates elected in order to gee the other lot into some form of action.

I'm sure many of you will remember the general election, sometime in the 70's IIRC, when 13 SNP candidates were elected to Westminster. Suddenly Scotland was top of everybodies agenda :!:

I will stand up and be counted as one who voted against both entry into Europe and the scottish Parliament.

:rantoff

Now I'm off to lie down in a darkned room :!:

Well . . .

Feeling better yet?

OlivePage quoted something I posted on TOP - I didn't post it on here - and tried to use it to get me to rise to a particularly unsavoury piece of bait. This was then followed by a fairly unconnected rant appearing to come from somewhere to the right of Atilla the Hun's position.

FFS If you lot don't give it a rest I am going to impose a unilateral blanket ban on politics on this forum and start pulling threads. The TAASC can pull any posts of mine that he deems transgress my own ruling.

THIS is the place to vent your political spleen - BlueMoment isn't. I don't want to know anything about any member's politics please, and in return I promise not to say anything remotely political. There will NOT be a Lounge on here.

"Posted: Tue Jun 03, 2008 4:13 pm Post subject: Chris" .

I was teasing you - I thought rather gently - sorry if I touched a nerve.

It's not a nerve, it's his age. All his hormones are jiggling about.

RIGHT YOU LOT!

THIS IS A SAILING FORUM and if you're not a niche on the internet, you're nothing - as someone once said.

I'm almost apolitical and very tolerant of others' views as a rule. If you say something I really don't like, of a racist nature frinstance, my ultimate sanction is simply to withdraw from your company. You may have noticed that I've never taken part in this type of thread either here or elsewhere except perhaps to lighten the atmosphere with some humour.

A little banter is fine but I come here for the saily stuff, as do we all I'm sure and I'm happy to hear that Nick wants to keep it that way.

Play nicely now.

The alcohol free bit has taken a bit of a knock, but I can now get into trousers that were beyond the pale a month ago. Maybe next month they will even be comfortable.

I am afraid I do not have Lord C's iron resolution - but then neither have I developed terminal irascibility, so I guess it is swings and roundabouts.

Off East tomorrow for a few days, so my presence here will be sporadic . . . you have the helm, Admiral.

Ah, I see it all now, its LOFGS*. I suffer from this as well when on a diet as well.

Oh God - lets bring the Welsh into this as well - after they depend upon Westminster handouts too.

Hey :!:
I didn't START the political debate, but I do get just a tad upset when it is assumed that all us Scots people are happy with our Parliament, and was just putting forward my point of view in a thread which was already ongoing.

No offence meant, or taken, and if it is the webmeister's edict that politics shall not be discussed, then so be it. I'm happy with that.

However, if in the future, there is a post already under way with a political slant, then I reserve the right to express my views. Rest assured however, that I will NOT start such a topic.

There, are we all happy with that?
