There are at least 2 vacancies in West Connel Mooring Owners' Association. Would suit boats less than about 32ft. Annual fee is Crown Estate (currently £40) + £5 and one-off joining fee of £5. And you will have to negotiate purchase with the current owner. And probably replace much of the tackle as it's not been well looked after.

The location is close southwest of Connel Bridge and the Falls of Lora. There are no shore facilities apart from the Oyster Inn. Being near the Falls means there are strong currents in the bay and mooring tackle doesn't last very long.

No but at that price? And have you tried the Oyster? Under new owners since Covid, it's not to be missed.

Perhaps I should clarify - not very long is usually several years but not so many as some quieter spots.

I had a mooring in the Lagoon in Loch Craignish and the mooring tackle needed something every year with little in the way of tides to bother it!

I wonder if they are being sold as a result of the storm I posted about, with pictures, of boats on these moorings being violently slammed and tossed about as a result of big waves and strong winds. It is not a benign area when the wind gets up, so any future mooring buyer should take this into consideration. I believe though that all the boats in that area survived that particular, nasty storm, hence good, strong moorings at the time.

No, those in your pics from Jan 2022 are on the north side, another mooring association. West Connel MA is all on the south side, near the main road. These days, nobody leaves their boat in the water over winter at West Connel after the fuss in December 2011.
There are the usual and other reasons for the current vacancies including death and infirmity. But it can't be denied, it's a bad place to be in a strong north westerly. Mooring maintenance is the key.
