I believe we would all struggle if you were to become more tolerant.....Nick wrote:Older, certainly . . .claymore wrote: I have become older and more tolerant.....

I think it's probably time for a man who is incapable of looking after his liferaft without the help of FPV Hirta to give that tired old line a rest.marisca wrote:Go for it, Ken! I don't think you need worry about it getting too busyalthough I might have to give it a try next year.

1 Ardrossan Harbour......especially after a hard windward slog from Ardrishaig into ever increasing waves, which seems to happen annually. Had to take last second avoiding action for a basking shark in the entrance..couldn't see it in the waves.
2 Ardalanish which is bigger than it looks.
3 DB's bay. A delight.

When did you last go in and had the unauthorised mooring been removed ?Ghillie wrote: .....

Monday 24th June 2014, according to our log.
The mooring, plumb in the middle, was there then with a red rib with a nasty looking stern on it. We put a kedge out the back to keep us off it.

Re: Top three (or more) anchorages
It was there when we went in for the first time which was in July this year. You certainly cannot call the anchorage pretty but it is spectacular in a rocky sort of way and the mooring spoilt the desolate feel a bit. There was still plenty of room but as you say it was smack in the centre. Apparently it is not going to be removed (sadly) but moved to shallower water.Ghillie wrote:Monday 24th June 2014, according to our log.

Great anchorage for messing around in the dinghy - plenty of little coves and inlets to explore.

Re: Top three (or more) anchorages
From this year's collection.
Loch Eriboll : Ardneakie (S) - with an easterly. Couple of other moorings of unknown vintage, but a reasonable bottom in the middle. (Stony near the edges)
Loch Laxford - Weaver's Bay. Once you fight your way past the mussel farms- superb holding in sticky black mud!
Kylesku- North Ferry Bay -better with a fisherman's I think. We held in 35Kt gusts, but un hooking the anchor from the rocky bottom took ages, so read as stony with weed.
Camas Glas- by Inverewe Gardens LochEwe. Fine quiet west bay. More useless in normal SW weather, so no moorings to deal with! We anchored in the main bay to visit the shop also. Gravelly sand and weed.
Sheildaig , Loch Torridon- fairly deep, but not too rocky or weed infested..
We've made some use of Bob Bradfield,s detailed charts this year. Fairly impressed

Ard Neakie does look nice. I've only driven past it mind on a very windy day but there was a boat anchored in there looking very snug.
