Puddock,

Can I just take this opportunity to say that I found your original post both amusing and harmless, and that I put a completely different interpretation on the final (Arabic) statement.

Why the original joke led to a bunch of kneejerk responses about MPs expenses I don't know, but I don't think TASCC was particularly getting at you when he reiterated Ash's tagline.

The problem is that we all have one thing in common - sailing - but outwith those narrow confines there is bound to be more of a discrepancy. If we were to try to keep this as a West Coast MAB left of centre sailing forum it would become too much of a wee exclusive club. OTOH, if we engage in contentious political discussions hackles get raised and it becomes too much like TOP.

Do we need a Lounge? I hope not.

Thanks Nick. At least I haven't offended everyone.
I don't think a "Lounge" is needed as it will merely encourage more of our opiniated rants, which as you rightly point out, does not belong on a West Coast Sailing forum.

An Irishman, an Indian and a Frenchman were............... maybe not.
