Surprised that no one has noticed that massive submerged fire extinguisher before now.

The walk to the pub from Puilldobhrain (apologies for the spelling) looks a lot shorter than it seemed when we were there.

That's a long way up! Did you need to fit a new masthead light bulb or were you up there just for the photos? :?

Never far to the pub, but the walk back across the hill in the dark always seems to take longer for some reason :D

Lovely Pic Nick, but (pardon my ignorance) is this what they call "the bridge over the atlantic"? and is it near where you live Nick?
What a lovely looking sailing area.

Tis, indeed, With the Island of Kererra behind, and Oban to the right, Bach Island to the left and you can just make out the entrance to the Sound of Mull in the top left.

I've only sailed there once, but I must have dived in at least 10 different places in that photo.

Hi Eamonn,

The bridge is about 2 miles from our house and the pub beside it is our local.

I was anchored in Puilladobhran almost exactly a year before we moved over here in May 2003 (a delivery for someone, not Fairwinds) and was sitting at the end of the bar remarking 'I wish this was my local'. Little did I know that a year later it would be.

Sometimes wishes do come true :cheers

What a fantastic looking place, and a lovely wish to come true.
I now know where we are going for our long week cruise next year, sod NI, its your local.
Do I need to take a kilt to change into before going into the pub?
Incidently what is the name of the pub?
Thanks, Eamonn.

Tigh an Truish

Post by Nick »

.
The pub is called the Tigh an Truish, which translates from the Gaelic as 'House of the Trousers'. After the Jacobite Risings when kilts were banned, the islanders were reputed to change out of their kilts and into trews here, when going the mainland.

Definatly look forward to a trip there, and a pint in the Inn.
Maybe you could join us, there might even be a bottle of the creature, as it is sometimes known.
Pity about the 2 mile walk back to yours for supper after though.

Thanks for putting that on. Superb!

Been there once and loved it. Almost breaks my heart that you get to see it every day while I languish on the South Coast.
