But can't work out what it means, having picked up a bit o Scot or Doric or whatever on this forum, can anyone help with the translation or the sentiments of the...

Re: Oban pontoons
Thanks for that Nick, being down in Lancashire I lose track of what's happening. Have been to have a look at the new pontoon in Cardingmill bay, obviously just for loading, watering etc. Trouble with Cardingmill is that the moorings can be uncomfortable in a strong Southerly blow, I know I've had so...

Oban pontoons
Read in the Oban Times that the proposal to establish pontoons in Oban has missed out on funding by the Scottish government, however they say that the pontoons will still go ahead and will be installed by March 2011.
Anyone know any more?

Re: Oban pontoons - more info
Aye it certainly looks good and even if we get a watered down version it will be good for both Oban and for sailing, the more enthusiastic support we can give it the more chance it has of happening.

Re: Dick Gaughan
Glad about that thanks Silkie.
I take a look at the Dick Gaughan forum now and again to check on his Gigs and to see whats going on, however the Easdale Gig was never shown and still isn't as far as I can see.

Re: Clegs and Jellies
Bit surprised at the reports about money grabbing in Lochranza, I was there last week and picked up a mooring, a couple came along selling raffle tickets for the moorings.
They didn't demand and it seemed that they would have been happy if I had only asked for a pounds worth.

Re: Internet access afloat
Voda phone dongle worked well for most of the inner sound on my way south from Loch Maddy, in essence if you have a good GPRS reception on't phone, you can go online OK. However unless the reception is very good it wont let you Skype. Now in the Clyde, passed Seminole in't canal, having a brew, unfo...

Re: New management for Ardfern Yacht Centre
Mark is presently the manager of theworkshop at Ardfern, he is taking over management of the whole Yacht centre when David and Lynn retire.
The owner of the Yacht centre, Yorkshire farmers, are going to be more involved working at the yard.

Re: Internet access afloat
. would it make sense to go for this Vodaphone pay as you go? It's £39 for the dongle and 1Gb then £15/Gb after that. I've ordered one - hope to have it in time for the Chentleman's Cruise this weekend. Wondered how you got on with the vodaphone dongle, it sounded good to me and was going to get on...
