The pontoon in outer basin has very little water alongside the first leg from the gangway/harbour wall. The rest has good depth. I grounded just off the pontoon at the gangway(draft 1.5m) looked over the side to see limestone boulders! Tidal range is only a couple of feet so if there is enough water...

Hadn't tried upwind before so i did today - worked resonably well although tacking was tricky. She came through the wind the best but then fell off to a reach. Once going again i could harden up. Very handy for singlehanding or being lazy(i can be VERY lazy)

Thanks for the idea

My local auto factors stocks Unipart, Motoquip and Fram filters but cannot cross reference anything without having a vehicle registration number! I have Beta part numbers but no local stockists. Dont even think about state involvement in our lifeboats. The red tape would degrade and dilute the service. Most mountain rescue is carried out by self funded volunteer organisations and Government funded SAR services are suffering from cuts. Rescue 177 based at Prestwick have three cabs but usual...

midges

Hi folks
does anyone know if burning citronella oil in a lamp will discourage these vampirous beasties from entering your cabin?
If not, any other suggestions greatly received.

cheers

Hi Folks,
first post, hello to all
no doubt new moorings will take up good anchoring space. Why a pontoon? Existing harbour/beach ideal for landing. Maybe stop at Gigha
instead!

BTW- there are a couple of big stones between existing moorings and pier, perhaps thats the one's their going to move.
